IVC Filter Lawsuits
- IVC filter is a small, metal medical device designed to trap large blood clots and prevent them from going into the lungs and heart.
- Some of these devices have been found to become defective and break, which allows fragments to enter the heart and lungs, as well as other vital organs of the body. This defect can lead to serious injury and death.
- Pending lawsuits claim that the manufacturers of the device failed to warn patients and physicians of the increased risks of the filter breaking, metal fragments moving through the blood, potentially damaging an organ. As of March 2020, there were more than 10,000 lawsuits pending in Federal Court against manufacturers of IVC Filters.
